About Duncan White

Born in 1959, Duncan White began his working life as a stores assistant in a Royal Navy aircraft yard in Wiltshire. He then undertook a foundation course at Swindon College of Art and Design before attending North Staffordshire Polytechnic where he undertook a multi-disciplinary course but specialised in ceramics. This was followed by a period spent studying at South Glamorgan Institute of Art and Design where he was taught by Alan Barret-Danes and Mick Casson. Duncan gained an M.A. in 1988 and moved to Shropshire to work at Culmington Pottery.

Just one year later, Duncan established his own studio where he began to craft commissioned pieces. His stunning miniatures soon garnered attention and Duncan now creates wonderfully intriguing pieces in a wide variety of media. However, he is best known for his incredible ceramics.

Duncan White's handmade ceramic miniatures always draw the eye. Hand thrown on a potter's wheel and hand painted, the traditional slipware is historically accurate. Duncan is an expert in antique ceramics and his work boasts an amazingly authentic feel. You cannot fail to be charmed and impressed by this outstanding collection of miniature ceramics which are treasured by collectors across the globe.
